I thought it appropriate to feature this Government of Ontario courthouse and land registry office considering recent news. Completed in 1986 and designed by Tim and Patrick Murray, this building is not celebrated as an elegant addition to the Ottawa landscape. Perhaps it was the rain, but I was quite taken with the bleak structure. The massive rocks emerging from the ordered masonry brought to mind a criminal or contrary character, bound into the rigid framework of a society they will not bend to, unwilling to be chiseled into shape.
