MIRABILIA

You only have a few more days to visit St. Anne's Church on Gladstone Ave to partake of Mirabilia (things that make us wonder) Arts Festival and I would recommend not missing the opportunity.  Alongside lectures, music, ceremony and film, Mirabilia is hosting the reunion of arts collective Nethermind, who first came together in the 1990s;  fresh from art school and faced with a recession and few commercial galleries willing to show emerging artists, Nethermind displayed their sculptural work in abandoned spaces, basements and warehouses.  This is their first reunion, coming back together from successful solo careers.  What a pleasure to encounter their strange and wonderful installations in among the pews, up the staircases and down in the bowels of historic St Anne's, currently celebrating her 150th anniversary.  You'll also enjoy the unique Byzantine architecture and paintings by group of seven members.  A beautiful blending of the modern impulses and traditional spiritualism.

Note the water damage - Please make a donation.
