MACAUSLAND BLANKET

Last week was spent at a cabin in St. Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia.  Upon our arrival we received this beautiful gift from our hosts: a wool blanket woven by MacAusland's Woollen Mills Ltd.  Located in PEI, the mill is the only one in Atlantic Canada (and is one of the few in North America) producing 100% pure, virgin wool blankets.  The raw wool is produced throughout the Atlantic region, and MacAusland's will custom spin and weave a blanket from your own farm.  Our blanket is made of alpaca from Langes Rock Farm in Nova Scotia where the brother duo also produce class A aggregate, provides masonry services, mobile crushing, and precision blasting as advertised on their website.

It pleases me greatly to see family founded and run businesses thrive.  I was surprised to see that even the gift shop at the Halifax airport stocked quality items manufactured locally by skilled craftspeople.  We couldn't have brought back a more meaningful object from our trip. Thanks to our generous maritime friends.
