THE PROFESSOR

Back in January we featured Tomaz Jardim's south-facing sitting room.  Well, he's moved to a 2 storey Victorian and now the whole house is lovely.  We descended on the place one dark and stormy night to find everything arranged so naturally that it seemed the work of years.  With a combination of antiques, music paraphernalia, old bones and new renovations, Jardim strikes a pleasant blend between Henry Higgins' study and 21st century refinement.  That he put it together in so few months is remarkable notwithstanding the extended summer vacation allowed to academics.

  1. That rug in the first few images took me by surprise! I grew up with one very similar but it wasn't housed in Toronto. Mine was in a small provincial town outside of Aveiro, Portugal. This house reminds me of another time, another place.

  2. How interesting! Tomaz's father is from Portugal, and many of the contents in his home are family heirlooms.
