Diane Borsato is the new Artist in Residence at the Art Gallery of Ontario and her upcoming piece Your Temper, My Weather will be featured at the AGO for Nuit Blanche this October 5. Recruiting over 100 beekeepers, Borsato's performance examines the effect of collective meditation while drawing attention to the plight of bee populations.
Working in installation, performance, intervention and photography, Borsato challenges our place within our environment, and forces a second look at seemingly mundane realities. Reviewing her catalogue of past projects I'm struck by the humour, sensitivity and seemingly innate ability to skim the profound from daily life.
