RM WILLIAMS

R.M. Williams (1908-2003), as a teenager, began a lifetime of career changes in Western Australian by burning lime and building with stone.  He later worked as a camel boy, bushman, well digger, miner, leatherworker, bootmaker, businessman, editor and historian (to list a few).  The R.M. Williams company was established in 1932, focusing their mandate on handcrafted quality, authenticity and durability.  Along with fathering his ten children, R.M. created a legacy and became a legend that has greatly contributed to the Australian identity.
.
Williams is most famous for his innovation of the elasticized riding boot featured here.  Bought second hand in Australia, whoever had these boots custom-made chose the most beautiful leather.  I also appreciated the decision to insert a contrasting tan elastic.  I love bespoke anything, and, looking through their catalogue (a selection of different toe and heel shapes, leather and cuts) I'm very much tempted to place an order. Though, I should wait for a visit in person so as to have a pair fitted to size.

R.M.Williams knows that boots can't just look good.  They have to fit comfortably as well. From the first moment, they should feel like your feet have known them for years.
