While in Ottawa a few days back, I visited Parliament Hill. Swelled with civic pride, I appreciated the 19th and early 20th century neo-gothic architecture harkening back to old England. I was particularly drawn to the slightly clunky east wing, seemingly straight out of a Grimm Fairy tale. Unicorns and widow's walks aside, what provided the most aesthetic inspiration (and what we decided to feature here) was the stunning view from the hill across to the National Gallery of Canada (now under construction with iceberg installation by Inuk Silis Høegh), the Canadian Museum of Civilization, and the American Consulate.
