BIG BAY POINT

It's been a long winter in the city and the quiet wilderness of cottage country has been calling.  We were lucky enough this past weekend to make the short trek to a friend's place on Lake Simcoe at Big Bay Point. The suburbs of Barrie have slowly encroached on this 1950's cabin; with new mansions at a stone's throw and pizza delivery a possibility, you'd think that the magic would be ruined.  However, the rustic interior, beautiful view, questionable plumbing, and fresh air were just what we were after.  You can tell that the interior has changed very little since its original inhabitant painted the pictures that engaged us so much.  Only necessary updates are made here, leaving a link to past generations that is palpable.

  1. Wood burning fire place, love it! Also, I'd like to imagine that those dove tail joints were made using hand tools :)
