CARLYN BURCHELL

Carlyn Burchell plays Carol Demers in the 1940's era television series Bomb Girls, now entering it's second season.  She describes her character, a munitions factory office assistant, as "a bit of a pill", looking down from the office on the women working the floor.  The show highlights the changing role of women in the workplace, accelerated by WWII.  Set in Toronto, this Canadian production starring Meg Tilly provides a local connection to a moment in history.  Burchell looked to her Grandmother, Adda Dinny for advice on experience living through the war to help develop her character and grasp the mood of the 1940's.

Although Burchell takes delight in being Carol, a harmless villain, she is not restricted to this type, playing  the  enigmatic and enticing Gala in the soon to be released Follow alongside Gregory Smith.  As Burchell prepares to head to LA for pilot season, we exchanged stories of experiences in the film industry, both lamenting the restrictions of an art form requiring so many hands and revelling in the comradery and creativity developed through collaboration.
