This past weekend Toronto experienced strangely warm temperatures for January, melting the snow from the previous week and calling to mind a trip to LA in November. Featured here are exterior images from the Griffith Observatory in Griffith Park, Los Feliz. Positioned on the south facing slope of Mount Hollywood, the view of the city from the location is stunning, as is the remarkable 1930s architecture. The atmosphere created by the building and the scenery is one very fitting to the scholarly pursuits of astronomical discovery.
I love the white concrete, the border motifs, the evergreen pillars framing the entrance, the archways, and the railing details which casts rectangular forms of light on the pathway. I was also captivated by a hole in the hillside on our walk up to the summit.
