Every wedding dress has unforeseen issues and I've dealt with many over the years. Looking at this exquisite Victorian bodice, deftly hand embroidered with lilies and embellished with rosettes, I can't imagine any possible complaint. However, I'm sure back then (as now) tears were shed over some imperfection in fit, style or shade of white. No garment can live up to the expectations of a bride, but I can't help but taking pleasure in attempting to resolve the minor flaws that can act as a thorn in the side of a perfect day.
The overly-shortened strap! The wrongly-removed crinoline! The wreckage caused by an incompetent, though highly-recommended seamstress! You fixed it all, Heather. I'm so lucky to have such a sister.
ReplyDeleteNeat to see that it came from Ogilvy's in Montreal. I've been to the store a number of times and now have a small glimpse into what the store would have been like a century ago.
