WOMEN ARTISTS AT TATE BRITAIN

I've been pretty disappointed by the lack of women represented in 19th and early 20th century painting collections at Paris' museums. However, at Tate Britain  I was pleasantly surprised to find that many canvases that drew me in for a look at the label were painted by women.  Here are a few examples along with some views inside the museum, built on the site of Millbank Prison in the 1890's.

To discover more women artists from past centuries to the present, I highly recommend a visit to the National Museum for Women in Art's website.  The actual museum is in Washington DC.

Dora Carrington, Farm at Watendlath, 1921

Gwen John, The Convalescent, 1918-19

Vanessa Bell, Studland Beach 1912

Winifred Nicholson, Sandpipers, Alnmouth, 1933
