The loose lines etched into these vases really show the hand of the artisan at work. I was most drawn to the raised glass embellishments evoking beautiful boils, sunflowers bursting from the rough foliage. They bring to mind the work of the Canadian/Serbian jewelry designer Rafael Alfandary who's pieces I'm currently on the hunt for. Rafael's work made him a 70's celebrity, bedazzling notables including Margaret Trudeau, Muhammad Ali, and Paul Anka. He designed the crown for Miss Canada 1973; we highly recommend you watch this video to see both the covetable crown and strange broadcasting.
I always loved his work, even though it looks it's age, it holds up. You can still pick up pieces at St. Lawrence market.
